Roof Ventilation

ABOUT COOL ROOF SYSTEMS

Air in the space between the roof tile and the roof surface is heated by radiant heat produced from the exterior environment (in summer months) or from the interior space (in winter months). As the temperature of the air increases, it rises causing a natural “flow” of air from the eave to the ridge. With a Cool Roof system, cool air is drawn in at the eave and the warm air is vented at the ridge. This provides an additional insulation barrier between your home and the exterior environment. A Cool Roof system promotes a constant temperature from eave to ridge, reducing ice dams in snow country areas while providing energy efficiency and reducing costs all year.
